Snap On Smile Explained!

What is a Snap on Smile?

Snap-On Smile is a very thin but very strong removable arch made of crystallized acetyl resin which fits over the top of your own teeth giving you that beautiful, natural looking smile you have always wanted!

It is affordable and an ideal solution if you have stains, chips, gaps, crooked or missing teeth and gives you back the confidence to smile again. It is also an excellent choice for those that are not candidates for crowns, veneers, bridges or dental implants. The Snap-On Smile is flexible so it snaps into place and then snaps out so is easy to wear and does not require any adhesives or glue – it is just held in place by your natural teeth. The appliance expands over the teeth and hugs them tightly meaning the patient can eat and speak without it coming loose or shifting. It is available for upper and lower teeth and can be made to cover a quadrant or to cover your entire upper or lower arch. Upper and lower appliances can be worm simultaneously. It is a perfect solution for patients looking for a non-invasive and reversible approach to their cosmetic dental issues.

The Snap-On Smile is very easy to care for and can be a permanent or temporary cosmetic solution. It allows patients to eat and drink while wearing it because it is durable and stain resistant. Snap-On Smile will not damage your natural teeth and most people find that their speech is completely back to normal within 2 weeks.

How do I get a Snap on Smile?

You will need to find a Snap-On Smile dentist and at your first appointment the dentist will determine whether you are a suitable candidate for the Snap-On Smile. If you are then they will take an impression of your teeth and you will pick the style and shade of your new smile. It takes around 3-4 weeks your Snap-On Smile to be custom made for your smile and once it is ready you will come back for a final fitting appointment at the dentist. At this second appointment the dentist will make a few minor adjustments and that’s it!

Does it hurt?

No. The procedure is completely painless – there is no drilling involved and there are no injections.

How long does it last?

The Snap-On Smile appliance is expected to last several years if cared for properly which is around the same length of time as for other removable appliances such as night guards or partial dentures.

What is the cost?

The prices of each dentist vary obviously but an average cost per arch would work out as approximately £900-1300.

The Snap-On Smile resists stains from cigarettes, wine and coffee and comes with a cleaning kit to help you maintain its beautiful appearance. It can be cleaned using a soft toothbrush and water (but not normal toothpaste as this can dull the appearance). There is a Snap-On Smile cleaning powder available which helps remove superficial stains such as coffee, tea and plaque.
